Grade 6 - 8 Basketball and Volleyball
Junior MRISA Sports Exchange, Laos -
3 to 6 May 2007
The team left Thursday morning from UNIS. Both boys and girls basketball teams started their round robin on Thursday afternoon. They both won their first games quite comfortably. Basketball continued early Friday morning. The girls won both games and came first within their pool. The boys took one win and were defeated by ISPP which resulted in them coming second within their pool. The girls won their semi-final and went through to the final. The boy’s game was tight and could have really ended up either way. In the end the boys were defeated by 4 points (21-17). Well done to the boys team for making the semi finals and finishing in equal 3rd place. The girls faced ISPP in the final and won 15-13 to become the 2007 MRISA Junior Basketball Champions after playing an excellent match.
The schedule for Saturday had to be changed in the morning due to rain and all games were shortened to 15 points. The volleyball team won their first two games with ease, but were defeated by ISPP in their final pool match. Another win allowed us to finish second in our pool and make the semis. After winning the semi-final we once again faced ISPP in the final. We matched up against a stronger team and were defeated two sets to nil and are the 2007 MRISA Junior Co-Ed Volleyball Runners-up.
Congratulations to all teams for their excellent results and sportsmanship! – COACH VOIGT
